- Clean house. First things first. Those old handsets, laptops and other equipment in your back room may still be costing your department and your company money. You may be able to repurpose them for a new employee, but don't wait around. Every month you delay, you pay.
- Re-negotiate with vendors for a better contract. Once you have a handle on inventory, it's time to contact your providers. Armed with fresh information about what you need and don't need, you are in a strong position to negotiate a better contract.
- The "ahhhhh" factor. We put this one in for fun, but once you've tackled the first two items, ask yourself, "Doesn't it feel good to have a clean house"?
